Hurricane JV holds on to beat Cabell Midland 21-18
Hurricane used a strong first half performance to sprint to a 21-0 halftime lead, before holding Cabell Midland on downs deep in their own territory to earn a hard fought 21-18 JV victory Monday night.
Jordan Williams opened the scoring with a 3 yard TD run on a drive set up by an Austin Womack to Abel Cunningham reception of 40 yards.
Womack then found Ryan Moses on a 20 yard touchdown pass to extend the lead to 14-0 Redskins. But Hurricane was not done with their 1st half barrage, as Womack hit Isiah Williams on a short pass, and Williams did the rest breaking tackles and outrunning the Knights' defenders into the end zone for a 50 yard touchdown.
The never say die Cabell Midland squad were rejuvenated after the half and scored 3 times. However the Redskins defense held on all three 2 pt conversations, which set up an exciting finish.
Facing a 3rd and long late in the game Hurricane opted for a long pass which was intercepted. The Knights with one final opportunity for victory drove on the fringe of the Red Zone but Hurricane's defense proved equal to the task and held off the comeback bid and a 21-18 victory.
Defensively the Redskins were led by Haiden Cook, Corbin Shine, Rintaro Takeshima, and Barrett Dudding.
