Hurricane seeks to bounce bock vs. Woodrow Wilson

Hurricane is eager to get back on the field after last Friday's disappointing 41-21 defeat at Cabell Midland.

Perhaps the scheduler maker was kind to the Redskins as they get the 1-2 Flying Eagles up next.

Woodrow who lost 41-0 at Hurricane on a strange rain delayed contest a year ago, come into the contest off a 45-13 loss at the hands of AA Bluefield a week ago.

Just not good ball security,” Woodrow Wilson head coach Street Sarrett said.

“All those interceptions, turnovers, fumbles. I preach it each week — ball security.”

Beckley's QB Sutton Radford was 12-28 with 3 interceptions against Bluefield, while RB Micah Hancock had 24 carries for 102 yards and a TD in the defeat.

As far as the Redskins (2-1) they come in ranked #12 in the official AAA WVSSAC rankings off their loss to Midland and they may be bruised mentally and Physically.

"This is what I refer to as a hangover game," said Redskin Head Coach Jeremy Taylor. "We were sky high mentally for Midland, now we have to regroup and travel down to Beckley to face a team desperate for a home victory. To add injury to insult we have 3 starters out for the game, we cant kid ourselves, this game will be a challenge, but I think the kids we have on this team are ready to meet that challenge."

Some Redskins may see action on both sides of the ball, as defensive players Tommy Butler, Steven Shine, and perhaps co-leading tackler J.T. Cooper are likely to see snaps with the Offense.

"J.T. is a good sport. He is helping out anyway he can for the good of the team," said Assistant Coach Anthony Green who works with the offensive line. "He had a crash course at guard. Just in case we would need him."

Cooper and Cameron Kimble lead Hurricane in tacklers with 32 apiece.

On a positive injury update, Mason Giacomo should return to the field against Woodrow for the first time since early in the Winfield game.

Offensively Sophomore Christian Hill has been a workhorse with 84 carries for 440 yards. His 37 totes last week against Midland were the most this decade for a Redskin running back.

Prediction:

Look for Hurricane to shake off the loss from a week ago, overcome the injuries and get back to basics against Woodrow. The road weary Skins will be playing their 3rd consecutive road game prior to a bye next week. The once proud Beckley program is in a major down cycle, I believe they will return to prominence at some point, but that will not tomorrow night! Coach Taylor will get the balanced offensive effort on this night, and DC Pratt can pitch the shutout if he wants.

He wants......

Hurricane 45 Woodrow 0
