On Eve of Midnight Madness, 3 Redskins named to WV Pre Season All State team.
As the Hurricane Redskins prepare for the first practice of 2018 tonight at Midnight, the Gazette Mail honored three Redskins as Pre-Season All State.
Christian Hill a junior Running back and Tim McCutchen a senior Kicker were named to the First Team, while J.T. Cooper a senior linebacker was listed on the 2nd team.
Hill finished his sophomore campaign with 1659 rushing topping Terrell Martin's MSAC leading 1573 yards for the the Redskins in 2008. Before his playing days at Hurricane are over, it is likely that Hill will exit as Hurricane's all-time leading rusher.
McCutchen was perfect on PATs and added a 9-13 mark on field goals in 2017 and should prove to be a valuable weapon for Head Coach Jeremy Taylor this season, and should hold the record for most FGs in a Redskin career after 2018.
Cooper enters his senior campaign with 221 tackles, and was the Skins 2nd leading tackler in 2016 (Lucas Cooper led with 104) and 2017 (Peyton Lunsford led with 141) . Cooper projects to finish with 350 tackles which has Hurricane historians attempting to determine where that would place him on the all-time Hurricane tackle list.
NOTES: Coach Taylor poked fun at the grueling Redskin schedule deadpanning that after facing Spring Valley, Capital, and Cabell Midland in weeks 2-4, he believes the Redskins next opponents were the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Fun begins tonight at Midnight and we will do our best to let you know how practices are coming along as well as providing player interviews as the season nears.
