Spring Valley Remembers last year, but does Hurricane?

Spring Valley with the thrashing they were handed at the hands of the Redskins last season lingering in their heads, hosts Hurricane tonight with thoughts of revenge on their minds.

"I really dont have to bring it up to our kids because they remember it well," Brad Dingess Spring Valley's coach told the Gazette-Mail.

Let's hope that last year's contest is also fresh on the Redskin's minds as well. They dominated Spring Valley in their 41-21 victory. Many may argue that the Timberwolves, who went to the AAA championship game last season were a better squad in 2017 than their 2018 version.

Yes Hurricane does not have Dakota Williams, who caught 3 touchdowns against Spring Valley in last year's victory. But RJ Engel took to his role as the Redskin deep threat in last week's victory over Winfield, and should provide the same threat tonight to keep Spring Valley's defense on their heels.

Hurricane coach Jeremy Taylor told the Herald-Dispatch that a key to the game would be "getting up on them early," doing so may take them out of the ground and pound ball control offense that they strive on.

Taylor has tabbed junior Austin Womack as the starting QB for tonight's contest off his 2 touchdown performance vs Winfield. Taylor did indicated that he still has a loyalty to Nathan Roy and we will probably see both running the Hurricane offense at some point tonight.

Christian Hill was "Limited" to 102 yards v Spring Valley last season, his second lowest production of any game that he played from start to finish, and will most likely see at least that many carries tonight. He toted the ball 25 times last week, "I'd run with him a lot too," Dingess told the Gazette Mail, that kid is good."

Another key for Hurricane will be keeping it's key players healthy and on the field tonight, several of whom suffered severe cramping issue last week, and a repeat of that tonight could prove devastating to the Redskins' chances

Let's hope Hurricane has long memories. This time last year all the experts and gurus had selected Spring Valley to waltz into Hurricane and carry an easy victory with them as their bus headed west on I-64......instead the licked their wounds all the way back to Wayne County.

No surprise that I have not found a single expert who gives #10 Hurricane a chance against #4 Spring Valley this evening.

Prediction: We did it last year why not this year??? Both teams have lost key players and these teams match up well and usually play good close football games.

Hurricane leads the series 7-6 and although Spring Valley is a tough place to get a win, the Redskins have accomplished wins here before......

Ok close your eyes and imagine this...............tied game late.... Hurricane driving with just a few seconds remaining........Taylor calls on All-State place kicker Tim McCutchen for a game winning 41 yard attempt....

The kick is...........GOOD!

Hurricane 24 Spring Valley 21
